NameScan Pricing and a Fixed Price Alternative for Sanctions Screening
NameScan is pay as you go. You buy prepaid credits, each search uses one, and the credits stay valid for 12 months. NameScan does not show a price list on its pricing page, but software directories report about $1.50 a scan on an Emerald bundle and about $12 a scan on Sapphire. OfacScanner charges a fixed price a month instead, from $288 a year for 1,000 sanctions checks a month, with a PDF saved for each check.
How much does NameScan cost
NameScan charges per search from a prepaid balance. Its pricing page describes a pay as you go model with no contract, no minimum spend and no setup fee. Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase, and a small number of free checks is offered. There are two packages. Emerald runs PEP, sanctions and adverse media in one search against NameScan's own consolidated database, and is aimed at startups and low to moderate onboarding volumes. Sapphire runs the same three checks against the Acuris Risk Intelligence database and is aimed at higher risk and cross-border customers.
The pricing page does not print the per search rates. The listings do, and they are not from the vendor. Capterra shows an Emerald entry of 250 scans for $375 (about $1.50 a scan) and 500 scans for $560. TrustRadius shows Sapphire at $12 a scan, or 20 scans for $160. G2 says NameScan has not given it pricing. Treat all of these as reported figures and ask NameScan for a current quote.
Per search pricing is a good fit when volume is low and uneven, for example a handful of onboarding checks a month. It gets expensive when you screen a file. At the reported Emerald rate, 12,000 searches cost about $18,000, while OfacScanner Starter covers 1,000 checks a month for $288 a year. Starter is a sanctions-only product, so that is a comparison of scope as well as price.

What sanctions screening costs at three sizes
A yearly comparison for a U.S. team that only has to screen sanctions lists. The NameScan column uses the reported Emerald rate of about $1.50 a scan and is arithmetic, not a quote.
| Your situation | NameScan at about $1.50 a scan | OfacScanner plan | OfacScanner yearly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 new customers or vendors a year | About $750 | Starter | $288 |
| A 12,000 search year, new names and repeat checks | About $18,000 | Starter | $288 |
| A 50,000 name file rescreened after every list update | Every rescreen is a new search, so it grows with each pass | Growth | $2,988 |
OfacScanner Starter does not rescreen saved records, which is why the last row needs Growth. NameScan figures are derived from directory listings and are not offers.
When NameScan is the better choice
Pick NameScan if your rules require PEP and adverse media checks. Onboarding customers abroad, serving higher risk clients or following AML rules that name politically exposed persons all need data a sanctions-only tool does not have. OfacScanner does not screen PEPs and does not search news.
It also suits a team with a few checks a month and no wish to commit to a subscription. If the requirement is proof that vendors, borrowers, buyers or policyholders were checked against OFAC and other sanctions lists, read our page on OFAC compliance software to see what a sanctions-only tool covers.
Why sanctions-only teams choose OfacScanner instead
These buyers have an OFAC requirement from a bank, insurer, auditor or large customer and no PEP duty.
A flat price per month
Starter, Growth and Scale show fixed prices. Repeat checks and rescreens do not use up credits.
A PDF for every decision
Each check saves a certificate with the list version, the time, the user and how the score was built, which is what an examiner or bank partner asks for.
The lists a U.S. program needs
OFAC SDN and Consolidated on every plan, plus UN, EU, UK, Canada and Australia on Growth.
Rescreening after list changes
Saved records are rechecked each time a list changes, and you are alerted only on new possible matches.
A whole file in one upload
Batch sanctions screening scores every row of a customer or supplier CSV and opens a case for each possible match.
More users without a per user fee
Plans are priced by checks, not seats, so adding a colleague in finance or operations does not add a license.
How to compare per search credits with a fixed plan
Do this before you buy a credit bundle.
-
01
Count searches in a year
Add new customers or vendors, plus every repeat check and rescreen your policy requires. Per search pricing multiplies all of them.
-
02
Check which data your rules need
If your written program names OFAC, UN, EU and UK sanctions and nothing about PEPs, adverse media is cost without use.
-
03
Ask for the real rate
Ask NameScan for the per search price at your volume, the credit expiry and whether rescreening uses credits.
-
04
Test your hardest names
Run a few difficult names in the console at the top of this page, open the PDF and check whether it would satisfy your auditor.
A match score is a lead, not a verdict
No screening tool decides on its own that a person or company is sanctioned. Both products score how close a name is to a listed entry. Confirm a likely match against the official Treasury Sanctions List Search and bring in your compliance lead or counsel before you block, reject or report anything. Comparing more vendors?
